Race One
Dino qualified on pole position for both races. Josh Hill, who had actually taken pole by 0.010 seconds, crashed on the final lap of qualifying and this forced him to use the spare car. Dino started off the starting line well and stayed in the lead. He tried hard to develop a gap between him and the rest but a safety car period on lap five allowed the followers to close right in. At the re-start, he pulled away, just ahead of Dominic Pettit. The win was looking likely, although Dino made a slight mistake coming out of Church Corner during the last lap. The car lost some rear grip and he lost valuable speed going into the chicane, but still came in 1st.
Quote from Dino: “I made a bit of a mistake coming out of Church at the end which allowed Dominic to close in, but I managed to block the inside up Woodham Hill. He went to the outside, out-braked himself and we both ran over the kerbs, but thankfully I came home with the win. I’m not thinking about the championship at this stage. I go out to win every race, so tomorrow I’ll focus fully again and hopefully be back on the top step. It’s not the time to think about the title, there’s a long season still ahead of us.”
Race Two
Dino got off the line well and nosed ahead of Pettit. He managed to see off the opening challenge from Pettit on the first lap, and got clear of the pack. He finished the race in 1st position with a 6 second gap from the rest - and a comfortable lead in the championship too!
Quote from Dino: “It’s been a wonderful weekend for us. To get two wins and advance my position in the championship is brilliant. The team and sponsors deserve big praise for all their efforts.”
