I qualified second for both races behind chief rival Tom Carnaby.
Race One
With a drying track, the choice was whether to put a wet set of tyres up on the car or a dry set. Going conservatively, thinking of the championship and seeing a big cloud sweeping over, the team opted with the wet set up. However, this cost lot of time as it didn’t rain during the race and Dino fell from 2nd to 5th.
Quote from Dino: “The decision was made by the whole team including me and we decided that if it was to rain then we would have the upper hand. The track wasn’t fully dry and so we thought it would all go ok. However, I soon found out that it wasn’t going to rain and that I was off the pace. I did however push as hard as I could and managed to come home in 5th place picking up some points for the championship. I was happy to see that we were only half a second off the pace with this being Tom Carnaby’s home circuit.”
Race Two
With the normal set up back on the car, Dino wasted no time in putting pressure on Carnaby with his pace being as hot as his. There were a number of incidents early on in the race, which brought out the safety car for 4 or 5 laps. At the restart, he pressured Tom as hard as he could without wanting to make a mistake. Then a lap later, someone else had an incident which meant that the race was stopped and cut early. Dino finished in second place.
Quote from Dino: “I’m happy with this second race as I was pressuring Tom on every corner. This was perhaps a true indication of our speed that we could have had in race one. However, I’m still in the driving seat in the championship and looking forward to the finale at Brands Hatch where I know we should be quick.”
