Foundation Report

I had recently taken part in the RSF Shootout, where I’d narrowly lost out on the drive, coming in second overall. However, a couple of weeks later, I found out that the Formula Renault 2.0 litre seat had become available again. This meant that I was invited to go back with Team Fortec and the RSF for further evaluating. During the latter part of November and the early part of December, I was abroad at four different tracks in two different countries. I was alongside RSF team mate James Calado, who showed, on many occasions, that he was the man to beat. I travelled to Jerez and Estoril in the first two weeks and competed in the Winter Series. I finished 25th overall, and most noticeably an 8th place and a 10th place in the wet at Estoril.

Testing overall was really good fun. I learnt a lot about Formula Renault and working closely with the Fortec team and James Calado was excellent. I also tested at the new F1 test circuit, Parc Algarve, and then it was Valencia for the final few days. In the end I worked my way down from 2 seconds off at Jerez to 4 tenths off at Valencia. I was relatively pleased with my results.

However, the RSF decided in the end not to back us for this year. But a big thank you to the RSF and Team Fortec for giving me the experience.
